Citius-Altius-Fortius

"HIGER - FASTER - STRONGER"
(English translation of Olympic Motto)

Beijing huan ying ni"(北京欢迎你)
"Beijing welcomes you"

HISTORY LESSON: The 5 colored rings represent the five continents. Americas, Asia, Europe, Africa and Oceania.
The 6 colors, blue, yellow, black, green, red on white background appear on all national flags of the world at time of creation (1913).

I hope everyone has the chance to watch the Beijing Olympic Games at some point, whether live or rebroadcast. Exciting times for all of us. Some of us have friends competing in the games and we wish them all the best. Have fun, be safe, and enjoy your moment!

As a little boy, at one time or another, I too dreampt about being an Olympic athlete. I remember the winter games and watching downhill skiing and how exciting it was and how excited my parents would get. I wanted to jump outside on my skiis and race down the driveway after watching Jean Claude Keeley or Fraunz Klammer scream down the mountain. Then of course the summer games and swimming. Of course emulating Mark Spitz in our local pool.

The Olympics bring the world together for a short two weeks or so. We learn about far off countries and the stories of trials & tribulations of their atletes and the mountains they conquered to get to Beijing. We will learn more about China in the next few weeks than I ever did in school. The games are for a time where all humans and countries put aside our differences and political views and enjoy our talented athletes put forth their god given talents for all the world to watch. I'm excited and can not wait to watch all the athletes.

As a little boy I made the attempt at becoming an Olympian. Here are just a few images of my training years long ago!

You also need a sport to practice for the next Olympics. Maybe you and Bree can try Modern Pentathlon. Bree can alreay blitz the run and swim. You could do fencing practice together. You can both surely ride horses and to shoot you just point the gun at the target. Next time its in London. Welcome you come my country.
