#77 and still counting.....!!

#77 and counting. No it's not my IQ level or drinks I've had. It reflects the number of times I've seen Jimmy Buffett in concert.

Attended my first JB concert in 1982. It has been a religious experience over the years. Phunny how we phlock year after year to hear his music and story telling. Since my first JB concert I've seen him every calendar year. With exception of 1995 when I missed his summer tour because I was living in Moorea Tahiti and could not make it back to US mainland for his show. Over the years I would plan my summer vacations around his tour dates back east. Meaning I would plan on attending either Cleveland or Pittsburgh shows. Then I started flying to CA for his Irvine then Vegas shows!! Even while living in Bermuda in 1999 I was able to fly over to West Palm Beach FL for his last show of the Millennium!!
The only other time I missed JB show during a calendar year was last year 2008. He was scheduled to play Hawaii in Nov. with the timing of the grand opening of his new restaurant. However, as Island time goes, it was delayed until Feb 2009. So I missed the 2008 concert.
But certainly made up for it this past weekend!!
Who knows, I may try for vacation back east and time it with Pittsburgh show in June or Vegas in May? Like I need to see him again. I just can't explain it.....

Over the years his concert tickets have risen. In 1982 (July 5) I paid $14.95 for lawn seats.("homecoming tour") He only performed a few shows that year. Maybe under 20.
The most expensive ticket I ever paid for was in Las Vegas 2003 at $210.00 and the seats weren't even close to stage.
In 1991 I saw him 6 times as well as the following year.
2004 I saw him at Waikiki Shell and then at private show for Wells Fargo Bank at Hilton Waikoloa Village. I got in free and stood along stage front. This was the only second time I saw him without an ounce of alcohol in me! Other time was in Irvine CA. Back to back nights of Buffett concert no longer exist but years ago he used to book'em that way. Guess he learned his lesson too! Not much time to recover from previous night!!! LOL!

This past weekend I paid $140 for 3rd row seats. Best seats I've ever had at Buffett show!! Many times I would fly to CA without even a ticket. Knowing I had to search for scalpers. But as my luck would turn out....I got tickets no problem and never paid over face-value for a single one!!! Gotta love Buffett fans!!

My first Buffett album that I purchased was One Particular Harbour. 1983. The very first Buffett song I heard was from his 1977 "Changes in latitude Changes in Attitude" album called Margaritaville. I remember this song because our local swimming pool played local radio station which played it all the time during the summer months!

Nothing has really changed over the years. I still play his music most every day. I don't get sick of it. It's become more of a state of mind. I still read his books and recent blog updates. His music brings people together. You don't have to speak or understand English no matter your nationality or background his music is the soul of life. If we all just played more music and fought less this world would be a much better place. I'm sure he would agree as well as Bob Marley.

This is for all my friends who've been to his concerts and for all of you who haven't had the chance to attend. Go for the experience Leave as a state of mind!

I'm still growing older but not up!

Nothing beats Buffett for that island daydream. In 1981 my college roomate and I would crank up his tunes during winter semester in Memphis, dreaming for the day we would live on A1A.
He made it, thats where his second home is on New Smyna Beach. and I'm still wishin, got to go fishin' down to rock bottom again! You have seen him only 74 more times then me!Good for you!
My favorite Buffett tune is "Come Monday". Good Memories! Thanks!
